Best Norfolk Wedding Venues - Cley Mill
Next up in this series featuring Norfolk's best wedding venues is the wonderful Cley Mill, in order to add some value to these venue features I thought it would be good to include some information about the venue to accompany the photos so I spoke with one of the mill managers Sarah Pegden this morning. Along with Simon Whatling, Sarah runs this magical Norfolk wedding venue, below are some key facts which may help you decide if the mill is the location for your special day...Maximum capacity for weddings: 22 people for ceremonies inside or 60 people for outdoor ceremonies in the garden.Accommodation: Can sleep 20 adults in the various rooms within the main building of the mill and the accompanying buildings.Price range: Approximately £3000-£5000 (includes ceremony, accommodation plus food & drink) - prices correct at time of writing (Feb 2016). Discounted rates available for midweek and low season weddings. A downloadable brochures of their wedding tariffs is available on their website here.Catering: Provided in-house by their talented chefs. Any tastes are catered for. They offer set menus although are very happy to work with you to build a custom menu if you have specific requests. Where possible they will use local ingredients including seafood from Cley Smokehouse, beef from the Bayfield estate, Mrs Temple's Norfolk cheeses and fruit & veg from Hastings greengrocers in Sheringham.Grounds: The mill has a lawn to the rear which can accommodate a good sized marquee (they are happy to recommend marquee companies). Amazing views from the balcony of the Cley saltmarshes & reedbeds and across to the sea.Disabled access: Due to the nature of the building there is limited disabled access although the ground floor rooms are all accessible.Nearby off-site locations for photography: Cley village can make a great backdrop for bridal portraits after the ceremony. Cley Beach and the surrounding flood banks with the marshes/mill in the background have some lovely photo opportunities in the right weather conditions! I asked Sarah why people choose Cley Mill for their wedding venue, she told me that the biggest draw is probably the quirky, unique nature of the building. It also helps that it is a small venue, so for weddings of around 20 people the mill is the perfect size, some of the larger venues can almost seem too big for small weddings. Cley Mill is a lovely wedding location whatever the season, in the summer guests can make use of the gardens and the beach, in the winter the mill becomes a cosy retreat with the roaring log fire. Flexibility is another big draw to the mill, Simon and Sarah are happy to discuss your plans and allow you to plan your day exactly as you'd like it.
