Chatarina & Drew tie the knot in Finland

Yep, I'm now officially an 'International Wedding Photographer' after shooting Chatarina and Drew's wedding in Finland although I have, in the past,  shot a few weddings over the Norfolk border in Suffolk and that can be pretty 'foreign'!I'd been looking forward to this wedding for quite a while and I wasn't disappointed, Finland is a beautiful country and the people very welcoming. We started the day's photography at Chatarina's mother's house before going for a few pre-ceremony shots with the happy couple at some great little spots nearby. It was a blazing day so I was seeking out the shady spots for many of the shots (no harsh highlights/shadows/no squinting), unfortunately most of Finland's voracious mosquito population had the same idea so we couldn't stop in the shade too long or we'd have been bled dry!Below, Chatarina and Drew held their wedding ceremony and reception at their summer house on an island near the town of Vaasa, the house and garden are surrounded by wild flower meadows and all around the reception they had arranged the wild flowers in vases and jars.  I know the British florists will hate me for saying this but these arrangements made such a nice change from the elaborate displays we sometimes see in this country, not only that but they were completely free!Below, Chatarina's brother and sister-in-law had arranged some after dinner games, there were some great ideas I'd not seen before including this one in which Chatarina had to try to identify her new husband's legs while blindfolded.  Sadly she got it wrong if I remember rightly!Below, this is the summer cabin that Chatarina & Drew put myself and some of their UK & Finnish friends up in, complete with it's own sauna and jetty with rowing boat, it's a tough job but someone's gotta do it.This was taken at about 11:30pm just before the sun briefly dipped below the horizon, re-emerging again at sometime shortly after 1am, it never truly gets dark there this time of the year.My bro Nik (and friend of Chatarina & Drew and a guest at the wedding) returning from a row just in time for a midnight photo.  (This shot is actually a little misleading as I have under exposed it to bring out the colours, to the eye it was a fair bit lighter).Below, myself and middle brother Nik taken at midnight with no flash, apologies for my slightly unkempt look, we'd been living in the cabin for a couple of days when this was taken and I was becoming a little 'feral'.  No apologies for Nik though, he always looks like that!  Many thanks to the legend that is Sammi for this shot, Finland's answer to Ricky Gervais and scuba diver extraordinaire.Below, had to finish with a sunset, great colours.  Many thanks to Drew and Chatarina for commissioning me to shoot their wedding and for sorting out all my travel arrangements, thank you also to all of their family and friends for being so welcoming, it was an honour to be a part of your wedding day.For the full gallery of shots from Chatarina & Drew's wedding click here.  Try the slideshow option for best results.
