North Norfolk family lifestyle portrait shoot - The Metcalf Family at Felbrigg Hall

We were so lucky with the weather on Sunday for Guy & Anna's family portrait shoot at Felbrigg Hall.The shoot was one of my 'Autumn in North Norfolk' themed discount family portrait sessions and the combination of the golden autumnal light, fallen leaves and this lovely little family really made some gorgeous photos that I know will be treasured.  There wasn't much of a plan for the shoot, as is often the case, just take a wander & see what interesting spots for photos we find along the way.  I like to get a mixture of loosely directed shots (not going to leave everything to chance!) and also a good collection of natural shots of the family just being themselves & having some fun.One other feature of the Autumn shoots which I am going to make a habit from now on for my portrait photography is to keep it really simple gear-wise -  one camera, one lens (the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art lens before you ask) and no flashes whatsoever - all natural light.  Apart from loving the look of the images through this lens I think it's a great focal length since it's the closest to how our eyes see so the images are as natural as you can get.  I enjoy the fact that just having one lens makes me really think about the compositions and my placement in relation to the subjects (rather than just grabbing the zoom ring & changing the focal length to suit).  Plus I'm not lugging all sorts of gear around so I can be pretty nimble & reactive if I need to be and it takes away any decisions on what lens to use so I can really concentrate on the subjects.Anyway that's enough geek talk, here's just a handful of the photos we got on Sunday....
