North Norfolk Gems - best Norfolk wedding venues - The Hoste
Next in the North Norfolk Gems series is the internationally acclaimed four star boutique hotel and two AA rosette restaurant in Burnham Market - The Hoste. I've photographed a few events and weddings at The Hoste over the years and I've stayed & eaten there almost as many times - always a treat and never fails to impress!Set in the heart of Burnham Market village, The Hoste regularly attracts the attention of travel writers and the media, celebrity guests include Stephen Fry, Amanda Holden, Johnny Vaughn, Bill Nighy, John Hurt and Rory McGrath and the restaurant is often frequented by the Royal Family. Boasting 62 bedrooms across 6 properties all in the beautiful and picturesque Georgian village of Burnham Market - one in an actual railway carriage (more about that a bit later). The original part of the building dates back to 1551 and is Grade II listed, I love the fact that Horatio Nelson not only stayed at the Hoste between 1787 and 1792 but is also said to have regularly stopped for a beer on Saturday mornings in the bar to conduct his recruitment interviews! The Hoste was taken over by Bee and Brendan Hopkins (pictured below) a couple of years ago and continues to go from strength to strength under their guidance. I asked Brendan what, apart from the incredible food and luxury of the setting, made The Hoste such a special wedding venue. Brendan told me that he believes it is the exclusivity which makes the The Hoste a popular choice with couples wanting an unforgettable day. They only take on approximately twelve weddings per year at The Hoste so the professional and experienced management team can really look after couples, helping them plan their top-end wedding in style. The new Garden Room is a superb function suite - perfect for wedding receptions and parties and licensed for wedding ceremonies, overlooking the beautiful walled garden. Each of the 62 bedrooms have been individually designed with no detail overlooked, true luxury! Below is the stunning Railway Carriage room, part of The Railway House (an annexe to The Hoste) just ten minutes walk through the village. The carriage sits on the old railway tracks and boasts a copper sink, walk-in shower, luxurious fabrics and railway memorabilia, it doesn't get much more romantic than this!In the courtyard wing of The Hoste is their Beauty Spa.A serene sanctuary with its own six-seater hot tub, sun loungers and garden, the Beauty Spa offers a quiet environment for residents and non-residents alike to relax and rejuvenate - perfect for pre-wedding bridal party preparations! Below, just three of the fantastic team at The Hoste, a very friendly, professional & attentive team, from L to R - Denis Frucot - General Manager, James O'Connor - Executive Head Chef, James Sanders - Deputy General Manager Below are some Hoste wedding photographs from previous weddings I have shot there, from a photographer's point of view it is truly a treat to work at. Being in the heart of the village just on the village green & next to the church ensures there is plenty of opportunity for shots around the village between the church & wedding reception.... Being only a couple of miles or so from the coast means The Hoste has the world famous Holkham Beach on it's doorstep......it's also one of my favourite places in North Norfolk for pre-wedding photos and if time permits on a wedding day... So there it is, a stunning location, world class food in a beautiful, historic village on the North Norfolk coast, frequented by the royal family - it seems their tagline sums it all up rather well...
