Sheringham Lifeboat Day 2009

Yesterday was Sheringham Lifeboat Day, the great weather ensured a decent crowd.   We started off with a launch of the Atlantic 85......followed by a few handbrake turns.....Below, a short while later Cromer's All-weather lifeboat joined us along with their D-class and Y-boat...Below, these lovely ladies had been up since the crack of dawn baking scones and cakes to sell in aid of the RNLI.  The cheese scones were superb too!Below left, Nick Leach and Paul Russell chose the day to launch their excellent new book - 'Sheringham Lifeboats' which covers the history of Sheringham's lifeboats from the first fisherman's lifeboat right up until the current day.  It's a really interesting read and features loads of great photos and paintings including approx 25 photos by myself including the front cover (yes, I counted, sad isn't it!).Below right, crew members Matt & Alice with one of Sheringham's RNLI lifeguards and some little stars who decided to have a collection along the prom for the RNLI and raised over £5 between them, great work guys!Below, the RNLI's mascot Stormy Stan made an appearance which thrilled some children and terrified others!  (If you think that's scary you should see what he looks like without the foam head on!)Below, what can only be described as probably Sheringham's finest all male maritime themed men's choir - The Sheringham Shantymen entertained a lucky crowd in the afternoon sun.Below, the Sheringham Shantymen in all their glory - the Shantymen do a huge amount of fundraising for the RNLI, great work chaps. For the full gallery of shots from SHeringham LIfeboat Day 2009 click here.
