Janine & Michael - a stunning wedding at Temple Church & Lincoln's Inn, London
After Michael & Janine's pre-wedding shoot in Norfolk I knew their wedding day was going to be great fun to photograph and getting to shoot in the 12th century Temple Church in the centre of London was very different from the little country churches of Norfolk! We started the day's coverage at The Rookery, just round the corner from the fantastic hotel Michael & Janine had put me up in for two nights, so, well-slept and with an amazing breakfast of eggs benedict & bacon inside me I was raring to get started! The Rookery is a lovely hotel, steeped in history, some very interesting antiques & artwork and a beautiful little cat which I was convinced was stuffed when I first spotted it! I may be a bloke but I know a special pair of shoes when I spot them! Preparation shots completed, I hopped in a cab and headed to The Temple Church, originally built by the Knights Templar, it's a fascinating and beautiful building serving the Inns of Court and a real oasis of calm in the mayhem of the capital... After some time photographing Michael & his groomsmen, the guests arriving and getting lots of detail shots of the church and surrounding area (really spoilt for choice here, so much to photograph!), the bridesmaids arrived shortly after followed by our beautiful bride and her father Daryl... What an incredible interior the Temple Church has, I couldn't resist breaking out the fish-eye lens for a few shots - I know the warped effect of the fish-eye isn't for everyone but sometimes I think it can look pretty cool... So with the formalities done and the group shots completed in about 15 minutes (I don't hang about) I had some time with just Janine & Michael for photos of the two of them while the guests walked to nearby Lincoln's Inn for the reception... After champagne & canapes the guests welcomed Michael & Janine into the Lincoln's Inn Great Hall, just a little bit 'Harry Potter', amazing! After the wedding breakfast came the speeches followed by a surprise arranged by Michael's best man,Tarquin, in the form of an opera singer - this was no ordinary opera singer but a friend of Michael's from many years back. An amazing voice and after a couple of songs she got everyone singing and joining in......and finally to the first dance and evening entertainment provided by Truly Medley Deeply, (they of Britain's Got Talent fame) and a very talented couple of chaps they are too! What a fantastic day, huge thank you to Michael & Janine for allowing me to be a part of their wedding day and to all of their family and guests for making me feel so welcome. For the full gallery of their Temple Church wedding click here.
