Norfolk wedding photographer - a wedding at Gunthorpe - Kate & Ed
Kate & Ed's wedding at the lovely little Norfolk village of Gunthorpe had all the promise of being a spectacular day and it didn't disappoint!Kate's parents - John & Louisa, own & run the beautiful White Horse Farm holiday let barns in Gunthorpe, the location for their wedding reception and had been lovingly help them plan the day for months, ensuring the gardens looked their best and assisting in the UK planning since Kate & Ed live & work in Dubai. Their work wasn't in vain as the grounds looked immaculate for the big day as you will see!I started the wedding day coverage with some shots of Ed and his groomsmen enjoying a lunch and a beer at the King's Head, Letheringsett, just outside Holt.Loving the colours of their waistcoats.... So I left the chaps to enjoy their lunch in peace and headed off to White Horse Farm where Kate was getting ready... Bridal preparations complete it was on to the next location - Gunthorpe Church where Ed and the lads had arrived, fed & watered, and ready for the main event!Their vicar, Rev Ian Whittle, was a pleasure to meet, really friendly, a wicked sense of humour and very relaxed about photography at the church, it was a real honour to photograph in his parish and exactly the way it should be - fun, relaxed and welcoming with a really lovely personal and, at times, humorous service. ...and then back to White Horse Farm where the party awaited. Kate & Ed had asked if I could bring my drone to get some shots of the guests wandering down the road from the church to the reception... Kate & Ed had arranged for the North Norfolk Fish Company, based in Holt, to be at their reception with 250 live Thornham (or was that Brancaster?!) Oysters to be enjoyed by the guests. I was offered some but I'd probably have dribbled juice all down my waistcoat so I politely declined and concentrated on photographing everyone else slurping up these gastronomic gastropods. For some reason no one seemed very keen on being photographed gulping down these North Norfolk delicacies! I guess it's not the most delicate or photogenic procedure although Ed made it look good, clearly an experienced oyster connoisseur. Stunning wedding bouquets & buttonholes, as ever, created by Rita at Passion of Flowers in Holt - one touch which really impressed me was that Ed had mentioned to Rita that they would like to have some boutonnières for the shots at the King's Head in advance of the service so, to ensure that they still had fresh looking flowers for the service, Rita provided them 'stunt' buttonhole flowers for these shots and then another set for them to put on at the church. It's touches like this that make the difference between a good florist and a great florist! Below is Kate's simple, yet beautiful bridal bouquet... Cheeky selfie.......then to the speeches and the meal, prepared to perfection by the highly talented Chef Andy Parle and his team... I'd like to thank Kate & Ed and their families for making me feel so welcome as part of their fantastic wedding day, I had a blast, all the best for the future whether that may be in Dubai or back in the true land of the gods - North Norfolk! For the full gallery of Kate & Ed's stunning North Norfolk wedding click here.
