Victoria & Darby - Voewood wedding photography, North Norfolk.

I've known Victoria's family for about 15 years as her father Nick was with me on the lifeboat crew here in Sheringham, Nick has since retired from the crew but still lives in town so I see Vics & Darby when they come back to town to catch up with family & friends - usually down at The Lobster pub (Nick's second home! ;-)  )I was really honoured to be asked to photograph their wedding, Vics is a bundle of energy and smiles and Darby is a lovely chap and very successful, being producer of Radio 4's Gardener's Question Time for the last couple of years (is that right Darby?), certainly a young age to be in charge of such a well known and popular production, I mean he doesn't even have a beard or wear sandals!We started the day's photography at their family home in Sheringham with preparations well underway, the house was a real hive of excitement and activity... Preparations complete I shot over the Beeston Regis church to meet with the lads although it wasn't long before the bridal party arrived and the service began... ...after a lovely service everyone piled into their cars for the short drive to the mighty Voewood in High Kelling, if you follow my blog you'll know how much I LOVE this place, a truly unique and fascinating place filled with an eclectic collection of art & curios by the owner, Simon Finch. This blog post wouldn't be complete without a mention of Nick's pride & joy - his Jaguar XJ, I believe Nick's father bought the car from new when Nick was just a boy (who knew they had cars back then eh Nick?!), many years later his father sold the car but a few years ago Nick managed to track it down & made the current owner an offer and now the car is back in the family.  It's a lovely story and Nick's pride is evident, in fact I think I may have seen a tear in Nick's eye when he handed the key to his good friend Chris on the wedding day who was acting bridal chauffeur for the day! After drinks on the lawn everyone took their places inside and awaited the entrance of the bride & groom followed by no less than nine speeches and a song scattered between the courses of the meal and what beautiful speeches they were too, much tears and laughter, exactly as it should be...
